New Building (final) We’re in !!!

Posted on: March 29th, 2012 by Manager

Today we finished some detail work on the new building and moved in the equipment.

We now have a first rate building to store all of our first class equipment that the Membership has been so generous in purchasing over the years!

When it is time for the grass to grow we will seed the perimeter for a fine finished look.

Awaiting the first visitor…

The newly erected Osprey Pole (on the 3rd hole) eagerly awaits its first visitor.

New Building (post 7)

We are well on our way to getting the new building operational by next week.

The electrical connections have been made and the garage door guys have done a super job!

The weather has been most cooperative and Manny and his crew have been busy with their springtime preparation.

Where are they now? (Tom Gardner)

From time to time we will publish a profile or update of past employees and a summary of their latest endeavors.

Tom Gardner worked on the grounds crew at EGC for three seasons a few years back.

After leaving the Vineyard, Tom moved to California where he was employed at Mission Hills C.C. and the Westin Resort.

Tom finally hit the big time and landed an Assistants position at Bel Air C.C. in Los Angeles, Calf. where he has very much enjoyed his employment and has further developed his skills as a player.

Tom recently qualified for and played in the PGA Tour’s Northern Trust Open ( LA. OPEN) at Riviera C.C.  and he has recently qualified for a major Nationwide Tour event, The Sobobo Golf Classic, in southern California, April 5-8

We all wish him good luck in the tournament.

New Building (post 6 )

Everyone seems to be enjoying the posts so we will keep them coming!

Today we installed the foundation skirts, cleaned up the entire building site, and prepared for installing the electrical connection to the building.

Good old Skip will be here to dig the trench tomorrow.

On Monday the 12 x 14 garage doors will be installed.

We can’t wait to get the equipment into the new building!

New Building (post 5) “Almost home”

Posted on: March 14th, 2012 by Manager

Today we took the rental equipment back off island and Aaron is finishing the floors.

The trim and gutter work is done on the building and we will soon begin the electrical work and some minor landscaping.

Again, we would like to thank all involved, for this is the 12th working day since the building was delivered to the site.

New Building (post 3) “Coming together”

Posted on: March 12th, 2012 by Manager

What a beautiful day here on the Vineyard. 62 degrees and it feels like 80.

The new building is really coming together as the gutters and exterior trim were installed today and the preparation of the  cement floors has begun.

Tomorrow “the crew” hopes to finish the steel portion of the project and exit the island.

“Hats Off” to  McGough Erectors and Kirby Building Systems for a job well done.

Knight Overlook

Posted on: March 11th, 2012 by Manager

Its been 2 years in the making and the most substantial part of the brush cutting between 2 tee and 9 tee has been completed. The Knight Overlook is named in memory  of George “Bud” Knight who always felt that the area should be restored to the open vista he and the members enjoyed years ago.

The pictures really don’t do it justice, but when newly exposed undergrowth starts to blossom and the ospreys start diving, it will really be something.

Ray Farland, who was Buds’ closest friend has been up to inspect the progress all winter and is delighted with the result as we hope all of you will be.

New Building ( post 2 )

Day 10 0f the steel construction portion of the project has us just 2 days from completing the bulk of the building.

Marty McGough and his crew have done a tremendous job with the steel work.

Today the windows were put in and the roof was finished.

Next week the cement floors will be poured and the week after that the garage doors will be installed.

The project is on time and on budget and will substantially improve safety and the overall operation of the Maintenance Department.
