Every year, on the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend, the Edgartown School holds the March to the Sea. A ceremony in memory of all fallen veterans. All of the students, teachers and parents walk from the school, down Main St., to Memorial Wharf where the school band plays, the 8th grade recites the Gettysburg Address and the children toss Lilacs into the harbor. Ted Morgan was the guest speaker and received a basket of flowers from his great-grandaughter in honor of his service.
Due to the inclement weather, the event was held at the school gym.
